چکیده
Materials and methods Allergy testing in susceptible individuals was done by skin prick test. A total of 100 patients (n=100, G=50, K=50) were included in the study.Detailed history of the patient was obtained by using a model questionnaire. Patients were abstained from taking any antihistamines, antipsychotics, one week prior to the date of procedure. Skin prick test was done using antigen solutions (total 150 antigens) for pollens, insects &dust. A relationship was drawn on the major allergens prevalent in this area, association of allergic rhinitis & asthma from the test results.

IL-25 and IL-33 Serum Levels are not Associated with the Type of Allergen Causing Allergic Rhinitis
Background: Fungal aeroallergens might sensitize the airway which in turn produces a specific cytokine profile. Objective: To evaluate the IL-25 and IL-33 profile in patients with fungal allergic rhinitis. Methods: The present study examined patients who were evaluated due to allergic rhinitis (AR) at Emam Reza Hospital of Shiraz, Iran. The all...
متن کاملEotaxin mRNA and protein expression in chronic sinusitis and allergen-induced nasal responses in seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Eotaxin is an eosinophil-specific chemokine associated with the recruitment of eosinophils to the site of allergic inflammation. The aims of this study were to determine the expression of eotaxin in nasal biopsies from allergic and nonallergic individuals with chronic severe sinusitis, and to examine whether the expression of this chemokine is upregulated following allergen challenge in the nas...
متن کاملCytokine Profile of Patients with Allergic Rhinitis Caused by Pollen, Mite, and Microbial Allergen Sensitization
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is especially prevalent among the population of large cities. Immunologically, the airway epithelium is a region where the population of allergen-presenting cells concentrates. These cells actively express a group of receptors of the innate immune system. A specific cytokine profile is its representation. The study was aimed at evaluating the cytokine profile in patients ...
متن کاملRhinitis and sinusitis.
Rhinitis and sinusitis are among the most common medical conditions and are frequently associated. In Western societies an estimated 10% to 25% of the population have allergic rhinitis, with 30 to 60 million persons being affected annually in the United States. It is estimated that sinusitis affects 31 million patients annually in the United States. Both rhinitis and sinusitis can significantly...
متن کاملAllergic respiratory disease as a potential co-morbidity for hypertension.
This article examines the relationships between allergic rhinitis and hypertension, chronic sinusitis and hypertension, and asthma and hypertension. Previous studies have demonstrated that men reporting seasonal or chronic rhinitis had on average a 3.5 mm Hg higher systolic blood pressure than those without allergic rhinitis. Proposed mechanisms to the relationship between allergic rhinitis and...
